As winter tightens its grip, Bihar experiences an increase in cold, prompting mercury alerts in multiple districts due to a prevailing cold wave. The temperature in Bhagalpur's Sabour has plummeted to 5 degrees, and over 17 districts witness a minimum temperature below ten degrees Celsius. With a lack of sunshine for three consecutive days, the weather department issues alerts of a cold day in eight-nine districts and a cold wave in others. Residents anxiously await relief from the biting cold.

Fog blankets several districts, including Bhagalpur and Banka, as people feel the chilling effects of the cold. Even the capital, Patna, records temperatures below 10 degrees. The south-western region bordering Uttar Pradesh faces a cold wave, intensifying the bone-chilling conditions. Thick fog disrupts daily life, particularly for those living in slums and on roadsides. The sun remains elusive, contributing to an eerie, nighttime atmosphere during the day.

Amid this, Bhagalpur Agricultural University's Meteorological Department has informed that the temperature will remain low till January 16. It is expected to get relief from this severe cold from January 17.
